31 and more than that butterflies

I am here at work writing a 3 hour daycamp on butterflies for 5 year olds. That's a lot on butterflies! We are making butterflies out of coffee filters, butterflies out of paper plates and toilet paper rolls, butterflies out of paint, catapillars out of paper chains, and the catapillar to butterfly life cycle out of pasta.. and ourselves. TOO MANY BUTTERFLIES for one day!

A few days ago I turned 31. THIR-TEE-WON! Whiskey Tango Fox Trot?! I'm old. (However, I have a super awesome boyfriend, so I don't much care. (Yes, MyNigerian)) But the day was pretty awesome.  My mom, BoyKid, Rinny and I went to Macaroni Grill for lunch. YUMMY!  Then, I went with the sybs to Color Me Mine. I made a gnome and a light switch cover for my glider room.
Then my whole fam went that night to Divine Comedy and laughed our heads off.

So there you go... my day. And my birthday and yes, I am still sickeningly in love with MyNigerian.

OH! And I got 3 new hermit crabs! That brings my new colony to 5! Maroon 5, Weezer, Archie McPhee, Jack, and Tolei!  They are all quite characters, too!

Crabs. Dogs. Gliders that Crab... and Bark!

It's a very good thing I have my pets to keep me sane... or at least insane in the GOOD ways.

Last night everybody was cracking me up. I was changing the substrate for the crabs. I recently got some more of them and some of them are a LOT more friendly than my others and were just motoring around the living room at top speed... until one of the dogs would approach them and then disappear into their shell. None of them (Well, except Princess Lucy who I kept separate because she is a BRAT!) are the LEAST bit aggressive, so we never had to worry about the dogs getting PINCHED.... when the dogs sniffed the crabs would just go in their shells. Trinket, usually the little hunter, decided the best plan of action was to ignore these troubling things completely. But Shasta always tries to makes FRIENDS with ALL moving things (she loves Boo, the gerbil, who actually likes her BACK. Because our house is crazy). So every time the crab would move she would wag her tail and go to greet and sniff it, then look SO CONFUSED, and cock her head and look at us like "Whoa! My new friend turned into a rock!" and walk away. She did it EVERY TIME! It was HILARIOUS! Sometimes she would get REALLY frustrated and whine, but she never even scratched the crab, just walked away, sad, until it walked again. She went to The Roomie's room and pulled her out, crying and POINTED at the problem, then wagging at the crabs, then scaring them, then whining again.

The gliders were cold so they bark till I come in and hold them and therefore felt it extra necessary to hang out in my bra, crabbing. As in... you know... making that sound they do. It's called "crabbing." It usually doesn't sound weird to me except I have been blabbing about CRABS. Anyway, yeah, my gliders. They make me giggle. They always do. Love love love them.

Uh Oh. I got crabs...

I am having a rather bad headache today and to be honest, it is making me really really nervous. Because it could be nothing... but it is almost feels like the beginning of THE headache. Which scares the crap out of me. I have been REALLY grateful to Dr. YeahBaby. But it's not, after all, a CURE. It should work, like 6 months. It has been 5. That's close. And I am nervous.

I am not ready for that stuff again.

I did go to church, though. The Special Park ward again. I dunno.

The other things in my life... hmmm...

Last night me and Fresno had a good talk on the phone. Lots of apologizing and being honest. It was a short one (my phone was dying), but we plan to talk today, too.

OH this is hilarious... yet seems *blush* appropriate to the situation.

You know, even with the GOOD stuff in my life (Fresno, an entertaining job, etc.), I admit I feel a little jealous of my friends and family right now. I am not sure what direction my life is headed. Rinny is being sent on trips with her job... her job that is far more career than mine. Mali is teaching! CC is an accomplished artist! Everyone keeps IMPRESSING me. And I am super happy for them, I really am. But part of me just wants to kick fate... I like what I am doing... but it can't be forever... it doesn't even get me benefits. Doesn't pay me enough to be independent.

But my life is so discombobulated right now... so up in the air... it shouldn't even worry me. Because good hell I don't even know if I will be living here in a year... or Nevada... or California. Should I go back to school? If so, WHERE? I don't know. What have I accomplished? What SHOULD I accomplish with my life?

Yeah. That has been the type of things I have been thinking (amidst random black and white movies) this weekend.

In very VERY other news, ummm... I am a dork, but yesterday I went in to the store for guppies and mealworms...

And came out with hermit crabs. 4 of them. They don't have names yet. They are both mine and the Roomie's. Because we were talking about getting some.

Oh, and by the way, yesterday the Roomie took Oliver the Robin to a reserve. He seemed healthy enough to get by even with his funky wing now, as long as he was somewhere away from roads or cats or other predators. So he was released in a reserve. He is independent enough to stay well and safe, barring anything tragic. So, off with the bandages (they weren't doing much. He was too healed for the splint to help) and off he went. Another sad/happy moment for the Ark.

But yeah... goodbye Robin, hello hermies.
